All blog posts and images were lost when the servers hosting this blog had a catastrophic failure related to bugs in the Bolt blogging/CRM software. That led to a successful WordPress deployment that allows for more robust workflows and backups. I thought the writeups and data associated with the original website were lost, but thanks to the Wayback Machine I was able to access the old posts. This blog will reproduce the best of them over time, now that I’m able to recover the content and original images.
Bolt was a nice CRM system, but losing all data and corrupting the backups left me with a bad aftertaste. WordPress and sensible workflows and disaster recovery are the way to go. Migrating this website to/from my California and SEA servers validated that data, images, databases, Docker containers, etc. all work well together, even across different Linux versions, distributions, and CPU architectures.
Cheers!
